SF Zoo Crawl Thank You!!!

I’d like to thank everyone that showed up to our first Lineweights field trip event and for partcipating in getting in that mileage on paper. We’ve got another fun filled Sketch Crawl so be on the lookout! As a part of our Thank You’s to those who came, we gave out sketchbooks with samples of our work and other goodies…

Here are some of my sketches from the zoo…such a challenging exercise and i need more mileage and practice!!! rapunzel…part 2

here are the two rapunzel sketches i promised my little niece Asia…sketched on 11×17 trace paper (the cheap stuff, i just like the wrinkled, tattered, and gritty feel of it)…used col erase and prisma…can’t wait to take my nieces to see the movie

we are PVC

I will never be able to afford these sweet vinyl toys…so all i can do is draw them and hope someone is kind enough to buy me one for my birthday…which reminds me, i forgot to finish rapunzel for my niece…woops….back to the drawing board!

rescuing rapunzel…

As everyone knows I’m a huge fan of Disney/Pixar, and I’m totally excited about their new film Rapunzel…so I’m roughing out a sketch for my little niece (the Boss), Asia…it’ll be a two part sketch with the following and a shot of her looking out of the tower with her hair flowing down..i’ll update the post once i finish…unfortuately i’m gonna be outta town this holiday weekend…so here’s an early look at what i got so far…

Jammin in the studio

Sorry its been awhile since any new posts…we’ve just been busy jammin on Alex’s Nstructor and *anonymous dude’s* (communication concept)…and as usual as we pull all nighters and after breathing in tons of paint fumes from our crank shack shop, we tag up the studio…so here are some sketches, shots of the protos, and our crank shack design studio…enjoy!!!

Pig Flu Zombies!!!…

So, i was watching the news a couple days ago and they were showing how one town in Mexico cleared out, out of fear of the swine flu and there wasn’t a soul on the streets…totally reminded me of 28 days later…then i was listening to the “noname show” on Live105, and no name started going off on pig zombies and the swine flu and i couldn’t stop laughing and had to throw down this thumbnail…

which of course led to this macabre sketch….just trying to make light of this pandemic…sorry if it grosses anyone out…

Tantor…from Tarzan

Seein Alex’s elephant reminded me of Tantor that i drew for my GodDaughter, Kei…she’s the only niece that didn’t want a fairy…sorry i never colored him sweetheart…she’ll never let it go…guess im fired…oh well, im a bad ninong 😦

Holla back…yadada mean…

Just one of those days i guess…i just get so tired…a brain dump of sorts…i wish i could make a vinyl…i want to make a vinyl…where the wild things are, the movie…one of the few things i have to look forward too…need to sleep….

IDSketching visits Viz Alliance @SJSU

Back when Dom and I were in school we started this after school sketchclub, Viz Alliance…our mission was simple, to get people in our program excited about sketching and to keep at it everyday (its all about the mileage)…we also pulled in the Illustration/Animation cats to get this “Alliance” lifted…we showed the Gnomon workshop videos and brought in professionals in Industrial Design and Illustration to do live sketch demos for us…

This last Thursday, the new Viz Alliance crew (Tony, Jeff, & David) invited the IDSketching guys, John & Spencer to do demos (digital and analog)…and everyone had a blast…Spencer represented the Prismacolor pencils and markers, while John rocked the Wacom using Sketchbook Pro…these super talented cats work @ Astro Studios http://www.astrostudios.com/, and run the best online sketch demo/tutorial site on the net, http://www.idsketching.com/…make sure to check it out!!!….and thanks again to Tony, Jeff, & David for keeping Viz Alliance going and spreading the word…
