rescuing rapunzel…
As everyone knows I’m a huge fan of Disney/Pixar, and I’m totally excited about their new film Rapunzel…so I’m roughing out a sketch for my little niece (the Boss), Asia…it’ll be a two part sketch with the following and a shot of her looking out of the tower with her hair flowing down..i’ll update the post once i finish…unfortuately i’m gonna be outta town this holiday weekend…so here’s an early look at what i got so far…
I swear man, this is like looking at the illustrators desk down at the Disney Studios bro! The underlay on the right really shows how you are finding the forms and shapes on the paper. Then the sketch on the right is you working over that sketch, with freedom and ability to flow lines that carry amazing character and quality. Each line quality is always so important!
Thanks bro…can’t wait till i get the whole board done, it’ll be fun!
Nice work Jon. Is there a reason you used two colors on the underlay? Did that make it easier to separate the details from the overall rough form?
Nope, just found a blue bic pen that i liked, the one with the transparent tube and just started using it over the black…one thing to note is that i go through many underlays, it may seem redundant and time wasting but just drawing over and over over helps me to loosen up and gets me more and more familiar with the form and working out the proportions…
