Draw Something!!!

We here at lineweights are addicted to the Draw Something App!

Its been so amazing watching an App that requires good communication and quick sketching skills take off like Draw Something has (what an inspiration! everyone around the world is drawing and props to OMGPOP for turning pictionary into a huge social gaming app)

Anyhow wanted to share some of our own Draw Something sketches (all on the iPhone version)…enjoy and hopefully u can guess what we are sketching!

H is for Hippo on a Hayabusa

I just ordered my Miachael Yamada Zoom Zoo ABC’s and can’t wait to get themĀ http://eca.bigcartel.com/product/test3 …this is a must buy!

…for the letter “H“, Michael drew a Hedgehog in his racer…but Megan Hohlfeld wanted a Hippo on a Hayabusa, so I drew her one!

A fun sketch to start off my new Moleskine…thanks Megan

Megan asked me to sketch the design team @ work and this is the result…I had to remove the sketch of myself cuz everyone was making fun of me saying i look like a Mexican game show host…whatever.

Anyhow, i’ve been trying to do a “sketch a face-a-day” project and should post them, but I know some people will request that i take em down…we will see

Cars 2!!!

We sure are super excited for the new Cars movie…well at least Dom n I are!…so, once upon a time we worked together and created an intern design challenge for ourselves that involved the marketing interns. This was our first chance to run through the ID process and come up with some cool stuff and work with people outside of design…

Here’s a slice of one of our brainstorms:

Our top choice concepts:

This here’s RandoMater…he randomly falls apart as the child plays with him and they have to help put him together. He talks so that he can give them clues as to what is wrong and if they fixed the right thing. To turn him off, the child covers his eyes and then he goes to sleep!

And then we had Dom’s sweet drifter Cars concept with the 5th wheel that allowed the car the slide into the turn…

Who wouldn’t want a Lightning Mcqueen helmet with walkie talkie and cushion for your head so you can sleep and a visor to block out the sun…and the LED lightning bolt too “Kachow!”

Dom had this wonderful idea to help kids save $ and in return get to power their Lightning Mcqueen…a piggy bank gas station that filled up an electric charge as you put $ in!

And then there was Dom’s nugget…the Cars Car Wash set, which he really set aim to find an activity that both father and son could enjoy doing together (we love our Pops’)!

Last but not least was our concept blast off that Dom and I had where we just cut loose…kept it rough and thumbnail style, just trying to capture the ideas as quickly as possible…

We learned quite a bit and had tons of fun…the next step of course would have been to get these prototyped (something unfortunately we didn’t get to šŸ˜¦ but nevertheless…)

Back to SJSU

This past weekend I got to go back to SJSU to attend the Western District Conference in SJ…lots of great speakers and it was awesome to see our very own Tony Ton present for the Merit Award…congrats bro on getting the SJ Merit Award!!!

I also had a blast going back to school and checking on the kids and what they are up to (cramming as always on their final projects!)…you guys rock!

Some sketches I found wandering through the rooms, glad to see that ya’ll are having so much fun! It’s always inspiring to see them working so hard and putting out great work…

Go Sharks!!!

Congrats to our San Jose Sharks for beating those damn red wings…sorry Billy D, but your boys did almost give us a heart attack (we were going to put a dead octopus on your desk!)…
