Jammin in the studio

Sorry its been awhile since any new posts…we’ve just been busy jammin on Alex’s Nstructor and *anonymous dude’s*  (communication concept)…and as usual as we pull all nighters and after breathing in tons of paint fumes from our crank shack shop, we tag up the studio…so here are some sketches, shots of the protos, and our crank shack design studio…enjoy!!!

Ahoy!

Inspired by the upcoming America’s cup race!, I plan to sketch a bunch more sailboats!  I tried to include my process with this sketch.

szerencse and friends

this is a really initial sketch (orthographic style) of a character that will be part of a comic strip/kids book/ etc that Zsuzsa and I have been working on.  His name is szerencse (tough to pronounce) but it means “Lucky” in Hungarian. Pretty cute name for a dog, reminds me of an old folk tale or something.   More to come for this series, so check on back!

Audrey & her goldfish Jantz…

A futuristic take on one of the characters Dom n I are working on for our story…Audrey here inspired by this wicked vinyl i saw, Julie West’s work, and megaman (a girl version)…probably add a little color later…or not…

bird flu zombies vs. pig flu zombies!!!

Who would win?  I feel like the aerial attack of the zombie birds would really take the zombie pigs by suprise…but once the pigs got ahold of the birds, they may be no match for the ferousious jaws of the zombie pigs!  Your thoughts?!?!?birdvspigsps…this sketch was inspired by Jon’s amazing Pig Flu Zombies sketch below…if you have not seen it, take a good look!

But can it walk?

This was done digitally when I still had my Intuos 2. Back when I was playing Starcraft I was inspired by the siege-tank and attempted to make a siege mech. I wasn’t too happy with it but it allowed me for great exploration. Back in the days of Mech Warrior my buddies would argue that mech were basically tanks with legs, and if the legs where taken out it would just be a turret depending how it landed. But I didn’t care. Mechs exist for good sci-fi stories and toys.

Someday I hope to ride to work in one of these…

Back in my second visualization class towards the end of the semester, I had a little fun and strayed away from the mundane drawing of products and pinned this up on the wall among with our vacuum cleaner drawings. A lot of people told me that I should of gone into animation/illustration, but I’m glad I stuck it out in ID.

Pig Flu Zombies!!!…

So, i was watching the news a couple days ago and they were showing how one town in Mexico cleared out, out of fear of the swine flu and there wasn’t a soul on the streets…totally reminded me of 28 days later…then i was listening to the “noname show” on Live105, and no name started going off on pig zombies and the swine flu and i couldn’t stop laughing and had to throw down this thumbnail…

which of course led to this macabre sketch….just trying to make light of this pandemic…sorry if it grosses anyone out…

WHAMMY! Detective Comics

I recently have been flipping through a stash of old school comic books and came across some really inspirational artwork.  Silver-age comics are so dope, all “pre-steriods” comic book heros/villians, pretty simple yet effective art work and really story driven. Oh, first Blue bic ballpoint, then indigo blue verithn, then depth with indigo blue prisma.    Enjoy!

vf-1j (here we go kingsley)

probably my favorite franchise of the 80s, i finally got this toy since the time 20 years ago of begging and crying to my mother to get one for me. it was expesnive back then (still is now) and, needless to say, my mother never gave in which probably led to my obsession.

i used an indigo prismacolor pencil, black ball-point pen, sharpie, and added the splash red using photoshop.
